Main Pool New Swimmer Assessments

We regularly hold assessments for swimmers wishing to join the club.  The next Main Pool assessments will be held at 6pm on Sunday, 28th February at Sunbury Leisure Centre . To arrange an assessment, please email John (click to email) with the swimmers name, date of birth and 2 telephone numbers or phone John on 07792 381965.

Teaching Scheme

We currently have a small number of spaces in our 2-day teaching schemes ideally suited for children between the ages of 4 and 8.  For more information please go to the 'More Information' page of the SSC 'Learn-to-Swim' website.  Or to arrange an assessment, call Kai on her mobile, 07751 885045.

Keep Fit or Competitive Swimming for Adults

Staines Swimming Club Masters section is for adults who want to swim to keep fit or to compete.  As long as you are over 18, age doesn't matter, as long as you can swim a few lengths, technique doesn't matter, you don't even have to swim all 4 strokes.  It's a great way to keep fit and a great way to make new friends.

TESCO FOR SCHOOLS AND CLUBS / SAINSBURY'S ACTIVE KIDS

In previous years, many of you will be aware that we have benefited greatly out of being part of the “Tesco for Schools and Clubs” scheme.

This year, the “Sainsbury’s Active Kids” programme has allowed us to similarly register, given the Club is recognised as holding the “Clubmark” standard by virtue of being a “Swim 21” accredited Club.

So for the 1st time we are collecting both sets of vouchers.

We do appreciate that many of you will wish to save for other benefiting organisations, such as Schools, but anything you can put the Clubs way would be gratefully appreciated.

Sainsbury’s have already started issuing vouchers, and Tesco begin issuing theirs from this coming Monday, the 1st of March.

If you do wish to donate any of your vouchers to the Club, then please either hand them to a Committee member of any member of the Teaching or Coaching staff, and they will arrange to get them through to me, John Dickens.

You can also hand them to Kai at the Cygnet Pool.

ASA ANNUAL RENEWALS 2010

Further to earlier Communication, the renewal paperwork for all swimmers has now been issued to ALL coaches, and these should have been issued to ALL Swimmers. If you have not attended a session since Sunday 7th Feb then these will be with your Coaches for your collection.

THESE NEED TO BE COMPLETED AND RETURNED ASAP. LATEST DATE FOR RETURN TO COACHES IS THE LAST DAY OF FEBRUARY.

Please note –

  • If the swimmer is going to be 9 or over within 2010, and intends competing at any ASA Licensed meet within 2010, then that swimmer needs to be registered as a Category 2 with the ASA.
  • If you are renewing at an existing Category you do not need to complete any ASA Forms.
  • If you are changing Category, you will need a new form – these can be obtained by emailing John Dickens (click to email).
  • ALL Personal detail forms need to be completed and returned with your cheque for the appropriate fee – even if the data we hold hasn’t changed from what you believe is on our database.
  • Please ensure the name and squad, as well as ASA number if existing ASA Member, are written on the reverse of any cheques.
  • You can combine ASA payments, for more than one swimmer, on your cheque, but please ensure that you make it clear on the reverse which swimmers it covers.
  • Renewal paperwork should be handed to your Coach, who will arrange to get these back to me.
  • Coaches are frequently unwilling to accept Cash, and therefore may refuse to do so.
  • It is much easier if your form and payment are returned in an envelope clearly marked “ASA Fees”.
  • Do not place any other form or payment in your ASA submission – I have enough to do here, and will miss or forget to address Gala entries if they are attached to the ASA paperwork.
  • If you require any help in deciding what Category is appropriate, then again please email John Dickens (click to email).

We have nearly 500 swimmer renewals to process here, so your prompt attention would be very much appreciated.
