Hants and South Coast Invitational Meet
20 young swimmers ( 9-11) had a fantastic evening on Saturday 21st Jan at the Hants and South Coast Invitational meet
where they came 2nd overall behind a very strong Woking team. Well done Staines.
For some it was their first experience of an external gala and they behaved impeccably, cheering each other on and getting to the correct place on time. This often meant getting out of the pool from one swim and walking into line to be ready for the next.
Staines entered 2 relay teams for the mixed age 200m freestyle relay and all teams swam brilliantly. Most had never done a 50m relay race and the handovers were nearly perfect.
Well done to all swimmers, of 67 swims there were an amazing 52 PBÔÇÖs. Awards were given in each age group from 1st to 9th place for boys and girls
The 9 year olds won beating Woking by a massive 200 points to 139. A great team effort and every swim won points for the team: Joanna MacFarlane - 1st , Hannah Aldred - 2nd, Bethany Wilson ÔÇô 5th , Matthew Rishworth - 1st, Jack Doig ÔÇô 8th, Ciaran Sando and Chinwei Tang.
The 10 year old team came 5th: Ella MacKenzie - 4th, Amy Rose Reeves ÔÇô 8th , Savannah Crighton , Harry Ward, Jaden Hodgson and Connor Dorsett.
The 11 year olds came 2nd: Aimee Bates, Lauren Berryman, Abigail Taylor, Fred Brown ÔÇô 6th, Nathan Wilson ÔÇô 7th, Evan Green ÔÇô 9th and James Sando.
