South East Region Winter Championships
Champions, Finalists, National Qualifying Times and near misses at Aldershot.
A small number of Staines senior swimmers made the short journey to Aldershot for South East Region Winter Championships on 3rd/4th December.
George Wilson won the 200m Freestyle in a personal best time and National Qualifying Time for 2012 of 1.56.24. The race was a close battle but George manged to be stronger in the final 25m to touch out his nearest rival.
Amber Cousens got almost as close as possible to her first ever National Qualifying Time with a personal best 1.07.70 on 100m Backstroke in the final finishing an outstanding 4th just one place off a medal.
Alex Garnett now training at Loughborough University competed under Staines and placed 2nd in the 50m Freestyle final although slightly outside his Olympic Trials Qualifying Time for March 2012.
