National League Round 1

Staines SC for the first time fielded an A and B Team for the first round of the National Arena League on 8th October and both teams of swimmers produced some fantastic swims.

Team B Swimmers

The A Team had the short trip to Bracknell to compete in the premier division, the competition was fierce with GB internationals and national champions swimming from the competing teams. The number of personal best swims was outstanding with almost every swim a PB.

1st Places: Girls 11/U Freestyle Relay - Freya Angood/Julia Jaworska/Gabrielle Icmat/Tiffany Parsons, Girls 11/U 50m Backstroke - Julia Jaworska, Girls 13/U 100m Breaststroke - Grace Baker, Girls 11/U 50m Butterfly - Tiffany Parsons, Mens Open 100m Freestyle - George Wilson, Girls 11/U Medley Relay - Freya Angood/Julia Jaworska/Gabrielle Icmat/Tiffany Parsons.

The competition was close all the way through with teams swapping places throughout the competition.

Final Placings:

  • Amersham 183
  • Bracknell 163
  • Sevenoaks 144
  • Staines 131
  • Woking 129

The B Team travelled to Reading for division 2 west and as it was the first B Team Staines has entered did not know how strong the competition would turn out to be. The team performed really well with excellent swims right across the age groups including from those who had to race in an older age group.

1st Places: Girls 13/U 100m Backstroke – Sammy Dickens and Girls 15/U 100 Freestyle – Tilly Thuringer

Coming down to 1 point for 3rd place we just missed out on that position, we look forward to round 2 for even more top quality swimming.

Final Placings:

  • Reading 261
  • Dorking 218
  • Basingstoke 185
  • Staines 184
  • Wey Valley 115
  • Chichester 70

Special well done to the swimmers who ended up swimming up 2 or more age groups to give the team the best performances possible.

Well done to the university swimmers who travelled back to support Staines SC.
